From the Office of the President

October 6, 2015

Dear Notre Dame Family:

Each year at this time, I am reminded of the abundant generosity of our Notre Dame community. Our collective support for the United Way of St. Joseph County’s Annual Campaign shines as a testimony to the way Notre Dame cares for the community outside our campus. This year, Notre Dame was recognized by the United Way as the 2015 Company of the Year, a tribute to our involvement in the Campaign and the work it sustains.

Still, there is more work to be done. A recent study found that approximately 40 percent of households in St. Joseph County live in poverty or struggle to meet basic needs. United Way is focused on addressing these issues through innovative programs that provide a wide array of material and social resources. Notably, the United Way is investing more in educationa programs that will help to give the next generation a more positive trajectory in life. For more information on these programs, visit unitedway.nd.edu.

Your support can make a difference. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps the University reach its 2015-16 United Way Campaign goal of $300,000. I hope you will consider supporting this effort with the same commitment you have in past years as we work to bring about sustainable, lasting change for those in St. Joseph County. Thank you for all you do.

In Notre Dame,

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C.
President
